ECI Intensifies Poll Preparedness in Assam with Key Appointments and Reshuffles
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has significantly ramped up its election readiness efforts in Assam, taking decisive steps to ensure smooth and transparent electoral processes. In a major move, the ECI has appointed Manjeet Singh, a retired IAS officer from the Rajasthan cadre, as the special observer for Assam. Describing Singh as its "eyes and ears" in the state, the commission emphasized that he will play a crucial role in overseeing poll preparedness and the conduct of elections. His responsibilities include regular visits to Assam to monitor election-related activities and provide essential inputs to the ECI as needed.

The Election Commission has directed the state chief secretary to implement these changes without any delay. Furthermore, the state government has been instructed to submit a compliance report by 3 pm on Tuesday, underscoring the urgency and importance of these measures in ensuring a well-organized electoral process.
These proactive steps by the ECI highlight its commitment to enhancing election integrity and efficiency in Assam, as the state gears up for upcoming polls. The appointments and reshuffles are expected to streamline administrative functions and maintain law and order, contributing to a fair and transparent electoral environment.
