Voters Advised to Confirm Electoral Details Ahead of Crucial Assembly Polls
As the assembly elections in Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry draw near, with polling scheduled to commence in under a day, the Election Commission has issued a crucial advisory for voters. To prevent any last-minute hassles on voting day, citizens are strongly encouraged to verify their names and details on the electoral roll in advance. This proactive step can help streamline the voting process and ensure a seamless experience at the polling booths.
Online Verification Tools Made Available by Election Commission
The Election Commission has facilitated online verification through its official website and the ECINet mobile application, providing voters with convenient access to check their electoral information. These digital platforms are designed to offer multiple methods for verification, catering to different voter needs and circumstances.
Key Verification Methods Include:
- Through EPIC Number: Voters can search by entering their EPIC number, which is printed on the voter ID card, after selecting their state and language on the portal. This will display the voter's full details.
- Through Personal Information: If the EPIC number is unavailable, voters can use details such as name, age or date of birth, district, constituency, and a relative's name to look up their records.
- Through Registered Mobile Number: Those who have linked their mobile number with the electoral roll can retrieve their details by entering the number and completing OTP verification.
Accessing and Downloading Electoral Rolls
In addition to individual verification, the Election Commission has enabled voters to download the complete voter list for their polling booth in PDF format. This requires selecting the relevant district, constituency, and booth before proceeding with the download. Officials emphasize that verifying details like polling booth and serial number beforehand can significantly aid in a more efficient voting process.
Polling Schedule and Important Dates
The assembly elections are set to unfold across multiple states. Tamil Nadu and West Bengal will go to polls on April 23, while West Bengal will have a second phase of voting on April 29. The counting of votes for all these elections is scheduled for May 4, marking a critical juncture in the democratic process.
By leveraging these online tools, voters can ensure they are well-prepared and avoid any potential disruptions, contributing to a higher turnout and smoother electoral operations.
