The recently concluded Bihar assembly elections unfolded under a cloud of controversy, with opposition parties raising serious allegations about large-scale voter deletions. Despite these claims, the National Democratic Alliance secured a decisive victory, capturing over 200 seats and paving the way for Nitish Kumar's record tenth term as chief minister.
Election Commission Data Reveals Striking Pattern
Fresh statistics released by the Election Commission of India this Wednesday reveal a concerning trend. Among the five constituencies that experienced the most significant voter deletions during the Special Summary Revision, the NDA emerged victorious in four, while the Congress managed to secure just one.
Gopalganj witnessed the most dramatic reduction in voter numbers, with the electoral roll shrinking from 352,054 in June 2025 to just 295,261 after the revision. This represented a staggering loss of 56,793 voters deemed ineligible by election authorities. BJP candidate Subhash Singh ultimately won this seat, defeating Congress rival Om Prakash Singh by approximately 28,900 votes.
Constituencies With Massive Voter Purges
In Purnia, located in Bihar's Muslim-majority Seemanchal region, election officials removed 50,767 voters from the rolls during the revision process. The BJP's Vijay Kumar Khemka secured victory here, overcoming Congress opponent Jitendra Kumar by 33,222 votes.
Motihari constituency saw 49,747 voters deleted from electoral lists, and again the BJP candidate emerged triumphant. Pramod Kumar of the BJP defeated Dewa Gupta from the Rashtriya Janata Dal by a massive margin of 92,517 votes.
Kuchaikote experienced the deletion of 43,226 voters, with the Janata Dal (United) candidate claiming victory. Amrendra Kumar from JD(U) defeated Congress's Nari Narayan Singh by 24,491 votes.
The Singular Exception
Kishanganj stood out as the only exception among the top five constituencies with highest voter deletions. Despite approximately 42,940 voters being removed as ineligible during the revision, Congress candidate Qamrul Hoda defeated BJP's Sweety Singh by a substantial margin of 76,875 votes.
Meanwhile, in the five constituencies with the lowest number of voter deletions during the revision process, the NDA secured four victories (two for BJP and two for LJP), while Congress won one seat.
The overwhelming success of the NDA alliance in constituencies that witnessed massive voter purges has raised significant questions about electoral integrity and process transparency. These results have intensified the debate surrounding the opposition's allegations about systematic voter deletions potentially influencing election outcomes.
