Ahmedabad Clubs Offer 25% Discount to Voters in AMC Polls

Ahmedabad: In a unique initiative to boost voter turnout, Karnavati Club and Rajpath Club in the city have announced special discounts at their restaurants for members who cast their votes in the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) polls on Sunday. The offer is valid from Sunday to April 28, with both clubs providing a 25% discount at their in-house restaurants to encourage civic participation.

Details of the Discount Offer

Chetan Shah, president of Karnavati Club, stated, "We have around 15,000 members and with family members, the number of voters reaches around 45,000. We have announced a 25% discount at four restaurants in our club for April 26-28 for those who come after voting." This initiative aims to incentivize members to exercise their democratic right while enjoying a meal at reduced prices.

Similarly, Vikram Shah, senior vice-president of Rajpath Club, said, "We have announced a 25% discount at our three restaurants for three days. We have been encouraging members for the last few elections to strengthen democracy." The club has consistently supported electoral participation through such offers in previous elections as well.

Impact on Voter Turnout

Both clubs collectively have a significant number of members, potentially influencing thousands of voters. The discount applies to all members who show proof of voting, such as an inked finger or a voter slip. This move is expected to increase voter engagement, especially among the club communities who might otherwise skip voting.

Other residential societies and businesses in Ahmedabad have also introduced similar incentives, including freebies and discounts, to encourage higher voter participation in the municipal elections.
