First Direct Train Service from Srikakulam to Tirupati Approved, Commences April 13

The railway department has officially approved the launch of the first direct train service connecting Srikakulam to Tirupati, with operations set to begin on April 13. This new weekly service, operated by the Humsafar Express, marks a significant improvement in connectivity for devotees and travelers in the region.

Schedule and Operational Details

The Humsafar Express will depart from Tirupati every Sunday evening, arriving at Srikakulam Road station on Monday morning. In the reverse direction, the train will leave Srikakulam Road every Monday afternoon and reach Tirupati on Tuesday morning. This regular schedule is designed to facilitate convenient travel for pilgrims heading to the Tirumala temple.

Addressing Long-Standing Travel Challenges

Until now, residents of Srikakulam district have had to rely on train services originating from Bhubaneswar or Visakhapatnam to reach Tirupati. This indirect routing often led to difficulties in securing berths and other travel inconveniences, particularly for those undertaking the Tirumala darshan pilgrimage.

The new direct service aims to alleviate these issues by providing more berths and a streamlined journey, reducing travel time and hassle for passengers.

Union Minister's Persistent Advocacy

The approval of this train service is the result of continuous efforts by Union Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. Since becoming a Member of Parliament, he has consistently pursued this goal through engagements with railway ministers, the railway board, Divisional Railway Managers (DRM), and zonal meetings.

"With this new service, devotees will have a more convenient journey and more berths available," stated Union Minister Rammohan Naidu. He expressed gratitude to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on behalf of the people of Srikakulam district for supporting this initiative.

Future Railway Developments for Srikakulam

Looking ahead, Union Minister Rammohan Naidu has committed to advancing the district's railway infrastructure. He announced plans to work towards starting more new train services from Srikakulam in the coming days, aiming to boost connectivity and economic progress in the region.

This development is expected to enhance travel options for thousands of passengers, fostering better access to religious and cultural sites while supporting local mobility and tourism.
