Paratrooper Makes Supreme Sacrifice in Kishtwar Counter-Terrorism Operation
A paratrooper from the Indian Army's Special Forces has succumbed to injuries sustained during a fierce counter-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district. The soldier, identified as Havildar Gajendra Singh, was critically wounded in the line of duty.
Operation Launched in Sonnar Village
The military operation began on Sunday in Sonnar village, located near the Mandral-Singhpora area within the Chatroo belt of Kishtwar. Security forces initiated the action based on specific intelligence inputs about terrorist presence in the region.
During the operation, a sudden and intense gunfight erupted between the security forces and hiding terrorists. The confrontation turned particularly dangerous when terrorists launched a grenade attack on the advancing troops.
Grenade Attack Causes Multiple Injuries
The grenade explosion resulted in splinter injuries to eight soldiers who were participating in the operation. Medical teams provided immediate first aid at the site before evacuating the injured personnel to nearby medical facilities for advanced treatment.
Despite receiving prompt medical attention, Havildar Gajendra Singh's injuries proved fatal. The brave soldier made the ultimate sacrifice while gallantly executing his duties during the counter-terrorism mission in the Singpura area.
Search Operations Continue
Security forces have continued their search operations in the region following the initial engagement. Additional troops have been deployed to comb the area thoroughly and neutralize any remaining terrorist threats.
The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army confirmed the tragic loss through an official statement. The Corps Commander and all ranks paid solemn tribute to the fallen soldier, honoring his supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.
