Pakistan has received a formal invitation to join the Gaza "Board of Peace" being established by United States President Donald Trump. The country's foreign office made this announcement on Sunday in response to media inquiries.
Formal Invitation Conveyed
Foreign office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi confirmed the development. He stated that the invitation came directly from President Trump himself. "The prime minister of Pakistan has received the invitation from the president of the United States to join the Board of Peace on Gaza," Andrabi told reporters.
Pakistan's Commitment to International Efforts
Andrabi emphasized Pakistan's ongoing engagement with international initiatives aimed at restoring stability in Gaza. He said the country would continue working toward a long-term solution to the Palestine issue. This approach aligns with United Nations resolutions that address the conflict.
"Pakistan will remain engaged with international efforts for peace and security in Gaza," Andrabi added. He stressed that these efforts should lead to a lasting solution for Palestine in accordance with UN resolutions.
Structure of the Board of Peace
The invitation comes as the US administration moves to formalize the structure of this new peace initiative. The Board of Peace represents a key element of President Trump's broader Gaza roadmap. On Friday, the White House announced several appointments to this board.
This board will oversee phase two of Trump's 20-point peace plan designed to end the Gaza conflict. According to a White House statement, executive board members will manage critical portfolios for Gaza's stabilization. These include governance capacity-building, regional relations, reconstruction efforts, investment attraction, large-scale funding, and capital mobilization.
Key Appointments to the Board
The White House revealed several prominent international figures appointed to the board. These include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and World Bank President Ajay Banga also received appointments.
Other notable appointees include Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and Apollo Global Management CEO Marc Rowan. US Deputy National Security Adviser Robert Gabriel will serve on the panel as well.
Leadership and Operational Structure
President Trump will serve as chairman of the Board of Peace. He has appointed Aryeh Lightstone and Josh Gruenbaum as senior advisers. These two will oversee daily strategy and operations for the board.
Nickolay Mladenov, an executive board member, will serve as high representative for Gaza. He will act as a liaison with the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG). This committee represents a central element of phase two of the peace plan.
National Committee Leadership
The White House announced that Ali Sha'ath will lead the NCAG. He will oversee restoration of public services in Gaza. His responsibilities include rebuilding civil institutions and stabilizing daily life for Gaza residents.
Security Arrangements Under the Plan
The White House statement also outlined security arrangements as part of the peace plan. Major General Jasper Jeffers received appointment as commander of the International Stabilization Force. He will oversee security operations, demilitarization efforts, and humanitarian aid delivery in Gaza.
Gaza Executive Board Composition
The Gaza executive board will include several international representatives. Tony Blair, Jared Kushner, and Steve Witkoff will serve alongside Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Qatari diplomat Ali Al Thawadi and other international representatives will also participate in this executive body.
The establishment of this board marks a significant development in international efforts to address the Gaza conflict. Pakistan's potential participation adds another dimension to these multilateral peace initiatives.
