Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation of Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's recent comments suggesting that Sindh province might eventually return to India, labeling the remarks as "delusional" and "expansionist."
Pakistan's Strong Reaction
The Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs released an official statement on Monday expressing strong disapproval of Singh's comments made during a Sindhi community event in New Delhi on Sunday. The ministry described the Indian defence minister's statements as reflecting a "dangerously revisionist and Hindutva expansionist mindset" that violates international law and challenges established borders between the two nations.
In their statement, Pakistani authorities emphasized that such comments represent a clear violation of international law and the inviolability of recognized borders. They called on Indian leaders to refrain from provocative rhetoric that could potentially threaten regional peace and stability in South Asia.
Rajnath Singh's Controversial Remarks
Speaking at the Sindhi community gathering on November 23, 2025, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh referenced BJP veteran LK Advani's writings about the deep cultural and civilizational connections between Sindh and India. Singh noted that many Sindhi Hindus from Advani's generation never fully accepted Sindh's separation during the 1947 Partition of India.
"Today, the land of Sindh may not be a part of India, but civilisationally, Sindh will always be a part of India," Singh stated during his address. He further added that "borders can change" and speculated that "tomorrow Sindh may return to India."
The defence minister also invoked India's national anthem to highlight the emotional connection many Indians feel toward Sindh, pointing out that people continue to sing about "Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, Maratha" with pride and nostalgia.
Pakistan's Call for Kashmir Resolution
In addition to condemning Singh's remarks about Sindh, Pakistan reiterated its longstanding position on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The foreign ministry called on India to take credible steps toward resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and what they described as the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Pakistan affirmed its commitment to resolving all outstanding issues with India through peaceful means based on international law while simultaneously asserting its determination to safeguard national security, independence, and sovereignty against any threats.
The diplomatic exchange comes amid ongoing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors and highlights the sensitivity of territorial and historical narratives in the complex India-Pakistan relationship.
