No Fuel or LPG Shortage Amid Middle East Crisis: OMCs Assure India
No Fuel Shortage Amid Middle East Crisis: OMCs

State-run oil marketing companies (OMCs), including Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), on Thursday assured consumers that fuel and LPG supplies remain uninterrupted across the country amid the ongoing Middle East crisis. The companies emphasized adequate stock levels and no shortage in the system, as reported by ANI.

Assurances from OMCs

The statements came following reports of increased demand at certain retail outlets. IOCL confirmed that fuel supplies across its nationwide retail network are stable and sufficient to meet consumer requirements. The company stated, "IndianOil outlets across the nation continue to ensure adequate fuel availability, helping every journey move forward - without disruption." IOCL also mentioned that its teams are working closely to ensure uninterrupted logistics and availability, urging customers to avoid panic purchases and buy fuel according to normal requirements.

"We are committed to maintaining a smooth supply chain for petrol and diesel," IOCL added, noting that demand shifts had created temporary pressure at select locations but were being managed effectively.

BPCL's LPG Supply

BPCL reported consistent LPG deliveries across the country between May 11 and May 20, ensuring uninterrupted availability for households, businesses, and small vendors. The company attributed this to a strong supply chain and round-the-clock operations. "Availability remains steady, and customers are advised to continue normal consumption patterns without panic buying," BPCL said.

HPCL's Fuel Supply in Rajasthan

HPCL confirmed that fuel supplies across Rajasthan, including Jaipur, are stable and adequate, with retail outlets operating normally. "There is no shortage of fuel in Jaipur, and all retail outlets are operating normally with regular replenishment and continuous supply support," HPCL stated. The company shared fuel offtake data for May 1-20, 2026, showing increased demand: petrol sales rose to 50,575 KL from 42,501 KL (up 19%), and diesel sales increased to 1,14,422 KL from 91,894 KL (up 24.5%). In Jaipur, petrol and diesel sales rose 18.4% and 21.3% respectively during the same period. HPCL noted that its officers and field teams are actively monitoring the situation and engaging with customers and dealers to discourage panic buying.

OMC Sources on Crude Oil Supplies

Separately, OMC sources told ANI that there has been no reduction in crude oil supplies from Russia, and India remains adequately supplied with petroleum products. "There is no shortage of petrol/diesel/LPG as India is a net exporter and surplus in petroleum products," the sources said. Higher fuel sales at some outlets were attributed to seasonal factors such as increased diesel demand during harvesting activities, as well as consumers shifting from private retailers to state-run OMC outlets due to pricing differences.
