The Nepalese government has officially released an updated NPR 100 banknote that displays a revised national map incorporating the territories of Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani - regions that India consistently maintains fall within its sovereign boundaries.

The currency redesign triggered immediate political backlash within India. Prominent Congress leader Pawan Khera publicly demanded that the Indian government adopt a firm stance in response to Nepal's action. Adding a significant geopolitical dimension to the situation, the controversial banknotes were manufactured by the China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation, China's state-owned currency printing enterprise.
