Mysuru's Railway Infrastructure Receives Major Boost with Revised Plans
In a significant development for Mysuru's railway infrastructure, the Mysuru New Goods Terminal (MNGT) will remain at its current location. However, this plan underwent thorough reconsideration following firm intervention from Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna, who unequivocally stated that MNGT should not be shifted under any circumstances.
Ministerial Directive Leads to New Proposal
Following the minister's clear directive, Mysuru Division Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mudit Mittal confirmed that Railways will proceed with a completely revised proposal to establish the Vande Bharat Maintenance Depot at the same site as the goods terminal. The ambitious project, estimated to cost approximately Rs 400 crore, will be formally submitted to the Railway Board for approval in the coming days.
"We have sufficient space at MNGT to accommodate the proposed Vande Bharat Maintenance Depot. Shortly, we will be presenting the comprehensive proposal to the Railway Board for their consideration," Mittal explained to media representatives.

The proposed maintenance depot represents a leap forward in railway maintenance technology and will feature:
