Ludhiana Fog Disrupts Trains, Delays Up to 10 Hours

Rail Services Paralyzed by Dense Fog in Ludhiana Region

Railway services across the Ludhiana region faced severe disruption for yet another day. A persistent cold wave combined with dense fog crippled train operations. This caused major inconvenience to daily commuters and long-distance passengers alike.

Widespread Delays Grip Key Trains

Poor visibility led to significant delays for numerous trains. The Amritsar Garib Rath Express recorded an extensive delay of nearly 10 hours. This caused severe discomfort for its passengers. The Kanpur Central Superfast Express ran more than five hours behind its scheduled time.

The Ferozepur Cantt Magh Mela Special Express, introduced for pilgrims, was running late by about three hours. Begampura Express also faced a delay of around three hours. The Jammu Tawi Humsafar Express was running more than an hour late.

Other affected services included the Sarbat Da Bhala Express, which reached its destination nearly two hours late. The New Delhi Jan Shatabdi Express was running late by over an hour. Amritsar Intercity Express ran approximately two hours behind schedule.

Amritsar Jan Shatabdi Express faced a delay of over one-and-a-half hours. Sachkhand Express ran nearly two-and-a-half hours late. Hemkunt Express was running over one-and-a-half hours behind its planned timetable.

Multiple Train Cancellations Add to Woes

In addition to the delays, railway authorities cancelled several trains due to the adverse weather. The Amritsar-Hisar Express was cancelled for the day. The Hisar-Ludhiana Passenger train did not operate once again.

Jalandhar City Intercity Express also remained cancelled. The Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Express continued to stay off the tracks. Other cancelled trains included a list of important services.

  • Delhi Sarai Rohilla Superfast Express
  • Agra Cantt Express
  • Jammu Mail
  • Jammu Tawi Duronto Express
  • Amritsar Jallianwala Bagh Express

Passengers Endure Hardship on Cold Platforms

Passengers waited for hours at railway stations, many unaware of cancellations until the last moment. With temperatures plunging sharply, people endured long waiting hours on cold platforms. This added significantly to their travel misery.

"Even though we know that the trains are late, there are still extreme delays, which totally disrupt travel plans," said Rupinder Singh, a mobile phone technician. "Trains expected in the morning are reaching in the evenings these days. This is highly frustrating."

"I need to go to Delhi frequently. But train delays these days have sent my schedules totally haywire," he added, expressing a common sentiment among stranded travelers.

Elderly passengers were among the worst affected by the chaotic situation. "This is extremely cold. I need to go and see my relatives, but travelling in this weather is very hard," said an elderly woman waiting at the railway station. Her words highlighted the physical strain caused by the extended waits in freezing conditions.

The ongoing disruption shows no immediate signs of abating as the cold wave persists. Railway officials are monitoring the situation closely, but operations remain heavily dependent on weather improvements.
