Fresh uncertainty has emerged over the prospects of a U.S.-Iran agreement after Tehran pushed back against optimistic remarks from U.S. President Donald Trump. While Trump recently suggested that a deal could be within reach, Iranian officials insist that no final decision has been made and that key differences remain unresolved.
Iran's Stance on Negotiations
Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, stated that Tehran has not approved any final agreement and will not compromise on what it describes as its "red lines." He dismissed speculation about a signing ceremony, stressing that reports regarding the timing and location of any potential deal remain premature.
Obstacles to a Breakthrough
According to Iranian officials, much of the negotiating text has been completed, but significant obstacles continue to stand in the way of a breakthrough. Tehran has accused Washington of repeatedly changing its positions during the talks, highlighting the deep mistrust that continues to shadow negotiations.
Baghaei drew a clear red line, stating that Iran will not accept any unreasonable demands from the U.S. side. He emphasized that Tehran remains committed to its principles and will not surrender to pressure.
