India's Balanced Diplomacy Amid West Asia Crisis Praised by Rajnath Singh
Union Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh declared on Sunday that India has maintained a remarkably balanced and composed diplomatic approach throughout the ongoing West Asia crisis. Speaking at a public dialogue program in Lucknow, Singh asserted that despite escalating tensions between major international players, India has successfully sustained strong relations with all involved parties.
Complex International Dynamics
Singh's remarks came just hours after the United States and Iran concluded marathon talks in Pakistan without reaching any agreement. The defence minister focused extensively on the West Asia situation, highlighting the growing conflict dynamics between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other. He pointed to recent attacks on US-linked military bases in Gulf countries as evidence of the crisis's seriousness and the uncertainty surrounding its resolution.
"In such a complex situation, if any country has acted in a truly balanced manner, it is India," Singh emphasized, underlining what he described as the nation's diplomatic maturity and strategic foresight.
Maintaining Strategic Relationships
The defence minister stressed that India has managed to preserve cordial ties with both Washington and Tehran, a diplomatic achievement that has proven crucial for safeguarding the country's strategic and economic interests. This balanced approach has allowed India to navigate the turbulent waters of international politics without alienating key partners on either side of the conflict.
Singh specifically referenced maritime challenges in the Gulf region, particularly around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. Despite heightened tensions in the area, he noted that Indian oil tankers have continued their operations uninterrupted, showcasing the effectiveness of India's diplomatic engagement and the respect it commands internationally.

The defence minister also connected India's balanced foreign policy to domestic stability, citing how the country avoided severe disruptions during the recent global LPG energy crisis. While many nations experienced sharp price hikes and critical shortages, Singh explained that India managed the situation without allowing significant escalation in domestic prices.
"Prices increased worldwide, but we ensured that the burden on Indian citizens was minimised," he stated, crediting timely government intervention and strategic decision-making for this positive outcome.

Singh acknowledged that uncertainty continues to loom over West Asia, with no clear timeline for when the current crisis might resolve. However, he expressed confidence in India's approach to these challenging circumstances.
"Even in conditions of uncertainty, India is playing the role expected of a mature and responsible nation," Singh declared, adding that such balanced diplomacy was not accidental but rather the result of years of consistent engagement and credibility-building on the global stage.
