The Indian Navy's extensive recruitment campaign for Agniveer positions, targeting the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches, officially concludes today, April 6, 2026. This significant drive encompasses multiple sailor roles, including Agniveer SSR (Senior Secondary Recruit), Agniveer MR (Matric Recruit), and the specialized SSR (Medical) posts. The online application portal, which commenced operations on March 14, 2026, will cease accepting submissions through the official recruitment website as the deadline passes.
Application Timeline and Important Dates
The recruitment notification was formally issued on March 10, 2026, providing candidates with a concise application window. Following the closure of applications today, a correction window will be available for submitted forms from April 10 to April 11, 2026, allowing applicants to rectify any errors. The selection process will be initiated with the INET 2026 examination, scheduled for May 2026, with results anticipated between May and June 2026. A uniform application fee of Rs. 550 applies to all candidate categories, including General, OBC, EWS, SC, and ST, payable exclusively through online payment modes.
Eligibility Criteria and Educational Requirements
Age eligibility varies significantly between the two batches. For the Agniveer 01/2027 batch, candidates must have been born between December 1, 2004, and May 31, 2009. For the Agniveer 02/2027 and SSR (Medical) 02/2027 batches, the birth date range is from May 1, 2005, to October 31, 2009.
Educational qualifications are distinctly defined for each post:
- Agniveer MR: Applicants must have passed Class 10 with a minimum of 50 percent marks.
- Agniveer SSR: Candidates require Class 12 with Mathematics and Physics, or alternatively, a three-year diploma with at least 50 percent marks.
- SSR (Medical): Aspirants must have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, securing 50 percent marks.
Regarding gender eligibility, both male and female candidates are eligible for Agniveer SSR and MR posts. However, SSR (Medical) positions are restricted exclusively to unmarried male candidates.
Selection Process and Examination Pattern
The selection procedure is multi-staged, commencing with the INET 2026 computer-based test. Successful candidates will then proceed to the Physical Fitness Test, followed by a Stage-II written examination, document verification, and a comprehensive medical examination.
The examination pattern is as follows:
- Agniveer SSR and SSR (Medical): These exams will consist of 100 objective-type questions covering English, Science, and General Awareness, with additional sections in Mathematics for SSR or Biology for SSR (Medical). The duration is one hour, with a negative marking of 0.25 marks per incorrect answer.
- Agniveer MR: This test will include 50 objective-type questions to be completed within 30 minutes.
All examinations will be conducted in both Hindi and English languages to accommodate a wide range of candidates.
Physical Fitness Standards and Training Details
Candidates must successfully clear the Physical Fitness Test to advance in the selection process. The physical standards are stringent:
- Male Candidates: Must complete a 1.6 km run in 6 minutes and 30 seconds, along with specified numbers of squats, push-ups, and sit-ups.
- Female Candidates: Have separate benchmarks, including an 8-minute run for the same distance.
Upon final selection, candidates will undergo rigorous training at INS Chilka in Odisha, preparing them for their roles in the Indian Navy.
