A 24-year-old man from Hyderabad, Aamer Khan, has been living a nightmare at the Dubai International Airport for more than 36 hours. His journey to seek employment in the UAE turned into a crisis when his passport was allegedly stolen during his flight, leaving him unable to clear immigration or return to India.
The Fateful Journey and Discovery
Aamer Khan travelled to Dubai on a two-month visit visa, hoping to find a job. He landed at the Dubai airport early on Monday. According to his family, he carried his passport, boarding pass, and educational documents in a bag during the flight. He fell asleep mid-air, assuming his documents were safe. It was only at the immigration counter that he realised his passport was missing. His father, Aijaz Khan, recounted the shocking moment of discovery.
Frustrating Search and Pleas for Help
Immediately after the discovery, Aamer alerted the airport authorities and filed a formal complaint. Since then, he has made repeated visits to the airport's lost and found department, but all efforts have yielded no breakthrough. With no concrete updates, his anxious parents in Hyderabad have been scrambling for solutions.
"We contacted the Indian Embassy in Dubai and also reported the issue on the MADAD platform," said Aijaz Khan. "They assured us that the matter would be looked into and that temporary travel documents would be issued to enable his return to Hyderabad. However, there has been no follow-up since Monday." The lack of progress has left the family in distress.
Stranded, Exhausted, and Facing Financial Loss
The situation has taken a severe physical and financial toll. As Aamer is unable to enter Dubai, his two-month visit visa has effectively gone to waste. He has not been provided any accommodation and has been forced to eat and sleep at the airport for the past two days. His family now also faces the burden of arranging and paying for an additional return ticket.
"He went there hoping to find work. Instead, he is stranded, exhausted, and unsure of when he can come back," his father added, highlighting the cruel twist of fate. The case has gained attention on social media, with politician Amjad Ullah Khan raising the issue on platform X, urging External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to extend immediate support to the stranded youth and his family.
