The Bihar Regiment Centre (BRC) in Danapur cantonment resonated with patriotic fervour on Monday as it celebrated the 83rd Raising Day of its 2nd Battalion. The ceremony honoured the unit's illustrious history and paid homage to its martyrs.

A Legacy Forged in 1942

The 2nd Battalion of the Bihar Regiment has a storied past, having been originally raised on December 1, 1942. It was formed under the command of Colonel G L Tarwar. Since its inception, the battalion has been a part of numerous military operations, consistently showcasing exceptional courage, unwavering discipline, and high professionalism on the battlefield.

Over the decades, its distinguished service has earned the unit several accolades, cementing its reputation as one of the most proud and formidable formations within the regiment.

Wreath-Laying and Tributes to the Fallen

The commemorative event was marked by a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial. Brigadier Rakesh Kumar Bora, the Commandant of the Bihar Regiment Centre, led the tributes by placing a wreath to honour the brave soldiers of the battalion who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

In his address, Brigadier Bora praised the exemplary role and battlefield contributions of the 2nd Battalion. He highlighted the unit's steadfast commitment to the nation's security and its enduring legacy of valour, as confirmed by BRC officials.

The ceremony saw the presence of several senior army officers, reflecting the significance of the occasion. Notable attendees included Lieutenant Colonel A K Singh, Lieutenant Colonel Ankur Kumar Mishra, and Subedar Major Bipin Kumar, among others.
