Barnala Residents Await Vande Bharat Halt as Railway Revises Faridkot Timing
Northern Railway issued a fresh notification on Monday. The announcement revised the timing of the Delhi-Ferozepur Vande Bharat Express at Faridkot Railway Station. This development has left commuters from Barnala feeling anxious. They are waiting for the implementation of a promised halt for the high-speed train at Barnala Railway Station.
Ministers Announced Barnala Stop in December
Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw and Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu made a significant announcement on December 17, 2025. They declared that the Vande Bharat Express would include a halt at Barnala. The train began its operations with considerable fanfare on November 10, 2025. Its initial route included stops at Faridkot, Bathinda, Dhuri, and Patiala in Punjab. The journey originates from Ferozepur.
Ravneet Singh Bittu officially flagged off the train at Ferozepur Railway Station. The push for a Barnala stop came from several local leaders. Sangrur MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer advocated for the halt. Rajya Sabha member Rajinder Gupta also supported the cause. Former MLA Kewal Singh Dhillon and BJP district Barnala President Yadwinder Shunty raised the issue directly with Union ministers. Heeding these persistent demands, the ministers finally announced the Barnala halt in December.
Revised Schedule for Faridkot Station
The recent notification from Northern Railway details a specific change. According to the official document, the Vande Bharat Express will now arrive at Faridkot railway station at 9:58 PM. Its departure time is set for 10:00 PM. This adjustment replaces the previous schedule, which had the train departing at 10:05 PM. The new timing comes into effect from March 19.
This revision has intensified the anticipation in Barnala. Local commuters are now closely watching for a similar formal notification regarding their station. The community's hope rests on the December announcement being converted into a concrete schedule change. For now, the focus remains on the updated Faridkot timing while Barnala waits for its turn.
