Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Opens Bidding for Rose Festival Stalls with Emphasis on Cleanliness

In preparation for the much-anticipated Chandigarh Rose Festival scheduled from February 20 to 22, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) has officially invited bids for booking stalls at the iconic Rose Garden in Sector 16. The civic body has issued a public notice detailing the auction process while simultaneously laying down stringent conditions to ensure environmental protection and maintain cleanliness throughout the three-day event.

Open Auction Scheduled for February 10 with Specific Requirements

The open auction for the allotment of approximately 30 stalls, each measuring around 10 feet by 10 feet, will be conducted on February 10 at 12 noon. The venue for this auction is the Committee Room located on the sixth floor of the MC Building in Sector 17, Chandigarh. Interested participants must attend in person along with valid identity proof to participate in the bidding process.

To secure a spot in the auction, applicants are required to submit a refundable earnest money deposit of Rs 50,000. This deposit must be in the form of a demand draft drawn in favor of the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. The MC has emphasized that detailed terms and conditions regarding the auction, allotment, and installation of stalls are available on their official website for thorough review by potential bidders.

Diverse Product Range Permitted with Food and Beverage Restrictions

The stalls at the Rose Festival are expected to attract wide participation from exhibitors, artisans, and traders across the region. According to the MC's specifications, these stalls may be utilized for displaying and selling a variety of items, including but not limited to:

  • Garden décor and nursery plants
  • Interior décor products and floral decorations
  • Decorative articles, paintings, and artworks
  • Garden equipment, fountains, and lawn furniture
  • Handicrafts from different states and emporia products
  • Manure and artificial flower arrangements
  • Aquariums, books, and various decorative items
  • Hair and body oils, soaps, and cosmetics
  • Musical instruments and artificial jewellery
  • Handbags, sunglasses, phulkari, and clothing
  • Art and craft items, antiques, and gift articles

However, it is important to note that the sale of food and beverages will not be permitted at these stalls, as per the MC's guidelines.

Strict Environmental and Cleanliness Protocols Enforced

In a move to promote sustainability, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation has implemented strict conditions for stall holders to ensure cleanliness and environmental protection during the festival. Key regulations include:
