Airbnb Achieves Strongest Quarterly Performance in Over Two Years
A leading global home-sharing platform has reported exceptionally robust performance during the fourth quarter of 2025, marking its most substantial Gross Booking Value (GBV) growth in more than two years. The company also recorded significant acceleration in both nights booked and overall revenue, indicating renewed momentum across its key international markets.
CEO Brian Chesky Highlights Core Business Strengthening
Airbnb Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Brian Chesky stated: "In Q4, we delivered our strongest GBV growth in more than two years, alongside acceleration in nights and revenue. We have successfully strengthened our core business operations, improved our innovation processes, and are scaling new business ventures and artificial intelligence initiatives with disciplined execution. That positive momentum continues to build steadily, and we fully expect growth to accelerate further throughout 2026."
Emerging Markets Show Exceptional Growth Trajectory
The company witnessed particularly strong quarterly results in Brazil and Japan, demonstrating solid performance in diverse geographic regions. India emerged as one of Airbnb's fastest-growing countries on an origin basis, with nights booked increasing by an impressive 50 percent year-over-year. This substantial surge clearly reflects a growing appetite among Indian travelers for alternative accommodation options and flexible travel arrangements.
First-time bookings increased at double-digit percentage rates across Brazil, Japan, and India during the quarter. In India specifically, first-time bookers rose by more than 60 percent, highlighting the platform's expanding reach and increasing appeal among new user demographics.
India's Market Momentum and Future Outlook
Amanpreet Singh Bajaj, Airbnb's Country Head for India and Southeast Asia, commented: "We are observing strong momentum throughout India with more new travelers consistently choosing Airbnb for their accommodation needs. Looking ahead to 2026, we will continue building upon this positive momentum by delivering the comprehensive benefits of our platform to create meaningful value for both hosts and guests across all regions of India."
Sustained Global Growth Expected Through 2026
With steady global demand for alternative accommodations and continued expansion across emerging markets, the company anticipates this upward trajectory will persist throughout 2026. The combination of strengthened core operations, disciplined innovation scaling, and market-specific growth strategies positions Airbnb for continued success in the evolving travel landscape.
