UP Diwas 2026 Marks Unprecedented Global Celebrations Across Continents

The 2026 edition of UP Diwas, which commenced on Saturday, unfolded as one of the most widespread commemorations of Uttar Pradesh's cultural heritage, with festivities resonating across India and the globe. Spanning three vibrant days, the celebrations showcased the profound connection the state shares with its diaspora and international communities.

International Observances Span Over 30 Locations

Through a coordinated effort involving Indian diplomatic missions, consulates, and enthusiastic diaspora-led initiatives, UP Diwas was observed at more than 30 international venues. The celebrations kicked off on January 24th with events in a diverse array of nations, including Russia, Germany, Maldives, South Africa, Mongolia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Trinidad and Tobago, Norway, Belarus, Sierra Leone, Mexico, and Guatemala.

In the United States, programs lit up cities like Seattle and New York, while Sri Lanka celebrated in both Colombo and Jaffna. Japan joined the festivities in the Osaka-Kobe region, and greetings poured in from locations such as France, DR Congo, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Bahrain, Estonia, Cambodia, Johannesburg, and Vancouver.

The momentum continued on January 25th, with celebrations extending to additional international spots. This included events in:

Minister Highlights Cultural Bonds and Domestic Celebrations

Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh emphasized that the scale and continuity of these global observances underscore the deep-rooted cultural bonds that people from Uttar Pradesh maintain with their homeland. He noted that this widespread participation reflects the state's enduring legacy and its ability to connect communities worldwide.

Parallel to the international events, UP Diwas was celebrated with equal fervor across India, with festivities organized in nearly 20 states.
