In an extraordinary display of familial bonds and shared identity, a quiet residential area on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram became the stage for a remarkable gathering this Monday. The event saw not just one or two, but eight pairs of twins and a set of triplets come together under one roof, turning a traditional 'noolkettu' or naming ceremony into a rare celebration of multiples.
A Ceremony Hosted by Twins, For Twins
The unique function was held at Nelluvila Veedu in Parottukonam and was organized by twin brothers themselves. Vyas S Vavolil and Viswas S Vavolil, 29-year-old founders of the All Twins Association from Pathanamthitta, hosted the event. The naming ceremony was for Vyas's daughter, Neha Vyas. The brothers used this personal family occasion to bring together their extended community, highlighting the special connection shared by multiples.
"This is not just a ceremony; it is a celebration of identity and togetherness," explained Vyas. He emphasized that twins share a bond that transcends ordinary description, and creating spaces for them to meet strengthens that inherent sense of belonging. His brother, Viswas, noted that their state-level collective, the All Twins Association, now boasts approximately 1,600 members, which includes an impressive 10 sets of triplets.
Star Attractions and a Family Legacy
The undeniable stars of the event were the 12-year-old triplets from Palakkad – Minhaj, Mithilaj, and Mirsah. Born just one minute apart from each other, the trio arrived at the function dressed in identical outfits, captivating all attendees. Adding another layer to their family's unique story is the fact that their father, Shameer, is also a twin. His brother is named Basheer, underscoring a strong hereditary pattern of twins within their lineage.
The gathering saw participation from multiples across various districts of Kerala, turning the event into a mini-state convention. The attendees included pairs like Shivahari and Sreehari (19), and Arjun and Ananthan (22) from Pathanamthitta. From the host city of Thiruvananthapuram came Dhanya and Remiya (35), Nithin and Nikhil (22), and Anjali and Anjana (27). The event also welcomed Rahul and Gokul (22) from Palakkad, and Arsha and Ardra (20) from Alappuzha.
Building a Platform for Shared Experiences
For the organizers, the event was a perfect embodiment of their association's core mission. Viswas S Vavolil stated that their primary aim is to create a supportive platform where twins and triplets can connect, share their life experiences, and openly celebrate what makes them unique. Such gatherings help normalize their experiences and provide a network of understanding that is often hard to find elsewhere.
The sight of so many look-alikes in one place created a visually and emotionally stirring moment, a spectacle seldom witnessed even in a state known for its vibrant social and cultural events. The function at Parottukonam successfully wove together personal tradition with community celebration, proving that family events can have a far-reaching impact when built on the powerful theme of shared identity.
