Ram Temple 2nd Anniversary: Festivities from Dec 27 to Jan 2

The sacred town of Ayodhya is preparing for a momentous spiritual and cultural event as the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust announces the schedule for the second anniversary celebrations of the historic Ram temple. The festivities are set to span several days, culminating in the main religious observance on the last day of the year 2026.

Schedule of Religious and Cultural Events

The grand commemoration is planned to be held between December 27, 2026, and January 2, 2027. According to the detailed plan, the core religious ceremonies will commence within the temple complex starting from December 27. These sacred rituals will continue for five days, leading up to the principal anniversary event.

The highlight, marking the second anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha or consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol, is scheduled for Thursday, December 31, 2026. On this day, special prayers and rituals will begin at 9:30 AM inside the sanctum sanctorum of the deity. Devotees across the globe will be able to witness the proceedings, as the ceremonies will be screened live. The events are expected to conclude between 12:30 PM and 1:00 PM on the same day.

Preparations and Cultural Extravaganza

Trust member Anil Mishra confirmed that preparations for the large-scale event have already begun. Teams are actively setting up temporary structures, including yagyashalas and enclosures, where the various religious rites will be performed. Furthermore, the trust is in the process of finalizing the team of acharyas and Vedic scholars who will conduct the five-day-long rituals with traditional sanctity.

Complementing the spiritual observances, a series of cultural and musical programs will be organized for the public. This cultural extravaganza is planned to run from December 29, 2026, until January 2, 2027, offering a vibrant blend of devotion and artistry.

A Look Back at the Historic Journey

The consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol was a landmark event, held on January 22, 2024. The temple opened its doors to millions of devotees the very next day, on January 23. The first anniversary of this historic occasion was celebrated earlier on January 11, 2025. The scheduling of the second anniversary for December 31, 2026, is based on the appropriate Hindu lunar date or tithi.

The upcoming celebrations are poised to be a significant event, drawing pilgrims and visitors from across India and the world, reinforcing Ayodhya's status as a premier spiritual and cultural destination.
