The sacred town of Ayodhya is witnessing a significant religious event as the Ram Mandir commemorates its Pran Pratistha Dwadashi, the consecration anniversary, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. The celebrations are centered around a 'vishesh abhishek' or special ritual bathing of the idol of Ram Lalla, according to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
High-Profile Attendance and Rituals
The ceremony has drawn the presence of two prominent political figures. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are attending the event, as confirmed by the temple trust. Singh holds the pivotal role of the main 'yajman' or host for the anniversary programme.
As part of his duties, Rajnath Singh will hoist a flag at the Annapurna temple, also known as Sita Ki Rasoi. This shrine is one of the seven located within the main temple complex. Following this, both leaders will address a gathering at Angad Teela and offer prayers at the Hanuman Garhi temple.
Schedule and Arrangements for Devotees
The two senior BJP leaders are scheduled to arrive at the Ram Mandir around 11:30 am. They are expected to remain in Ayodhya for nearly four hours to participate in the event and associated rituals. A senior official assured that while there might be brief movement restrictions of about 15 minutes at the Ram and Hanuman Garhi temples, the darshan for general devotees will not be otherwise halted.
Context of the Celebrations
The Pran Pratistha or consecration of the Ram Lalla idol was originally performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on January 22, 2024. The duo also hoisted the saffron flag atop the temple in a grand ceremony on November 25, 2025.
While the first consecration anniversary was observed on January 11, 2024, the second anniversary falls on December 31 as per the Hindu calendar. The Trust initiated the second-anniversary festivities on December 27, organizing a series of religious events. These included yagnas, recitations of the Ramcharitmanas, staging of Ramleela, processions, and devotional bhajan singing, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere in Ayodhya in the days leading up to the main event.
