State Lalit Kala Akademi Marks 65th Foundation Day with Grand Art Celebrations in Lucknow

The 65th foundation day celebrations of the State Lalit Kala Akademi culminated on Monday in Lucknow, featuring a dynamic array of painting exhibitions, student-led stalls, and an award distribution ceremony. The event drew enthusiastic participation from students and artists, who engaged in selfies and admired the diverse artworks on display.

Student Art Stalls Showcase Talent from Across Uttar Pradesh

A total of 12 stalls were set up by students from art departments of various colleges across the state, including Varanasi, Allahabad, Kanpur, and Modinagar. These stalls offered artworks for sale, highlighting the creativity and hard work of young artists. Shreya Yadav from the Arts College, LU stall, emphasized, "All the artworks we are selling are the outcome of the hard work of my friends and juniors."

The exhibits encompassed a wide range of artistic forms, such as:

  • Abstract paintings and murals
  • Lippan art and mandala designs
  • Printmaking and resin art
  • Terracotta items and portraits
  • Functional art like fridge magnets, postcards, and key chains

Painting Exhibition Features Works from State Artists

A dedicated painting exhibition was organized, allowing artists from across Uttar Pradesh to showcase their creations. Artist Dilenoor Fatima presented a piece titled ‘Abhay mudra', depicting the calmness and tranquillity of Lord Buddha. Another artist, Anushka Sahni, displayed a Kerala mural painting crafted using acrylic colours, adding to the cultural diversity of the event.

Live Demonstrations and Expert Advice from Renowned Artist

During a live portrait-making demonstration, well-known artist Vasudev Kamat shared valuable insights. He stressed, "It is very important for an artist to practise every day. Otherwise, observation does not get reflected on the canvas." Kamat advised young artists to avoid relying on social media for ideas and instead encouraged them to travel and explore, as this enhances observational skills and creativity.

Competitions and Prize Distribution Highlight Concluding Day

The concluding day featured several competitions, including painting, Kalash decoration, and clay modelling. The winners were:

  1. Painting Competition: Vivekanand Rajak secured first place.
  2. Kalash Decoration: Annapurna Verma bagged the top position.
  3. Clay Modelling: Shraddha Tiwari won first place.

The prize distribution ceremony recognized these achievements, capping off the celebrations that promoted artistic excellence and community engagement in Lucknow.
