India Art Fair 2026 Transforms New Delhi into Global Art Hub

Come February, and New Delhi undergoes a remarkable transformation, becoming a vibrant and dynamic center for contemporary global art and artists. Currently, the city is hosting the 17th edition of the India Art Fair (IAF) 2026 at the NSIC Exhibition Grounds. From February 5 to 8, the venue is buzzing with activity, attracting artists, art-lovers, collectors, and curators from around the world. Navigating the aisles, visitors encounter not just artworks but snapshots from history and engaging cultural conversations.

Cross-Cultural Collaborations Take Center Stage

This year's fair feels particularly attuned to fostering cross-cultural collaborations. Among the many pavilions, the K-Art Pavilion, presented by the Korean Cultural Centre India and titled "Resonances of Light", is drawing widespread attention for all the right reasons. It represents a quiet yet powerful presence of Korean contemporary art at the event.

Korean Pavilion Marks Sixth Consecutive Participation

The K-Art Pavilion marks its sixth consecutive participation at the India Art Fair, presented in collaboration with Keumsan Gallery, one of South Korea's prominent contemporary art galleries. The pavilion was inaugurated in the presence of H.E. Lee Seong Ho, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, and Dr. Sanjeev Kishor Goutam, Director General of the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA).

Talking about the deep bond between India and Korea, Ambassador Lee Seong Ho noted, "Korea and India share a deep and expanding Special Strategic Partnership in which art and culture play a vital role. Cultural exchanges between our countries have enhanced mutual understanding and strengthened the friendship between our peoples. It is in this spirit that the Korean Cultural Centre in India is proud to participate in the India Art Fair."

Artworks Under the Theme 'Resonances of Light'

The pavilion features 13 artworks curated under the theme "Resonances of Light" by four Korean artists: Eunjin Kim, Yongrae Kwon, SINN (Jineon Kim), and Sungyong Hong. These artists have utilized a diverse range of materials to create their pieces, including traditional elements like mother-of-pearl and lacquer alongside industrial surfaces such as stainless steel and aluminium.

The artworks are unique and beautiful, collectively shaping an environment where reflection takes center stage. They offer a meditative experience that encourages viewers to engage deeply with the interplay of light and material.

Expanding the Korean Wave into Visual Arts

Hwang Il Yong, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre India, observed, "The Korean Wave, which began with K-pop and K-dramas, is now expanding into the field of visual arts. By presenting Korean contemporary art on India's largest art platform, we hope this initiative will also help broaden opportunities for private Korean galleries to engage with overseas markets in the future."
