Free Bhagat Singh Books Distributed in Jalandhar to Inspire Youth on Martyrdom Day
In a heartfelt tribute to the revolutionary Bhagat Singh, a free book distribution drive is set to take place in Jalandhar on Monday, March 23. This initiative, now in its ninth edition, aims to revive public engagement with the martyr's writings and vision, emphasizing their enduring relevance in today's society.
Initiative Details and Organiser's Commitment
The event will be held at the Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall in Jalandhar, where books highlighting Bhagat Singh's life, thoughts, and contributions will be distributed free of cost. The organiser, Yuvraj Singh, a practicing advocate and assistant defence counsel at the District Legal Services Authority, has been spearheading this effort since 2019. He personally funds and self-publishes the books as part of his commitment to promoting Bhagat Singh's ideology.
Yuvraj Singh stated, "I have been promoting Bhagat Singh's ideology through literature since 2019. The books are self-published and funded by me as my personal commitment to the cause." He added that over the years, nearly 20,000 books based on Bhagat Singh's ideology and over 50,000 general books have been distributed among students and readers across universities, government schools, and even at Central Jail, showcasing the initiative's broad outreach.
Expanding Reach and Impact
To ensure wider accessibility, the organisers are implementing innovative measures. Copies of the books will be sent via post to individuals who connect through social media and WhatsApp, removing barriers for those unable to attend in person. This approach reflects a growing trend of using digital platforms to enhance community engagement and educational outreach.
The response to previous editions has been encouraging, with increasing interest among young readers. The drive continues to attract a diverse cross-section of participants, from students to general readers, highlighting the universal appeal of Bhagat Singh's message.
Focus on Contemporary Relevance
With this latest edition, the focus remains on keeping Bhagat Singh's ideology alive and accessible. The initiative seeks to inspire the new generation to engage with his message of patriotism, progressive thought, and social change. By providing access to original ideas beyond textbook narratives, it encourages critical thinking and a deeper understanding of historical contexts.
This effort comes at a time when Bhagat Singh's principles continue to resonate in contemporary society, offering insights into issues of justice, freedom, and societal transformation. The free distribution of books serves as a powerful tool for fostering civic awareness and cultural heritage among youth in Jalandhar and beyond.
