Digha Jagannath Dham Hits 1 Crore Visitors in Under a Year, Sets Spiritual Tourism Record
Digha Jagannath Dham Welcomes 1 Crore Devotees in Record Time

In an extraordinary achievement for spiritual tourism in India, the Jagannath Dham temple in Digha, West Bengal, has welcomed a staggering one crore (10 million) visitors in less than a year since its inauguration. The temple crossed this historic milestone on Sunday, marking a seismic shift in the cultural and economic fabric of the region.

A Sacred Milestone and the 1 Croreth Devotee

The landmark one croreth visitor was symbolically identified as Kakoli Jana, the young daughter of Surajit Jana from Tollygunge in Kolkata. The temple authorities honored the Jana family with a special darshan, sacred Mahaprasad, and garlands. Radha Raman Das, the vice-president of ISKCON and the chief priest and trustee of Jagannath Dham, Digha, emphasized the profound significance of the event. He stated that the arrival of the 10 millionth devotee transcends a mere number; it is a divine testament to Lord Jagannath's all-encompassing grace and universal appeal.

"We feel immensely blessed and honoured. Being part of such a historic moment at Jagannath Dham, Digha is an experience we will cherish for a lifetime. It truly feels like the grace of Lord Jagannath," expressed the overjoyed Jana family.

From Seaside Town to Global Spiritual Hub

Since its grand inauguration on April 30, 2025, the temple has rapidly evolved into a vibrant international center of devotion. It has attracted members of the global ISKCON community from over 150 countries, including devotees from Europe, the Americas, Africa, Australia, and across Asia. Das highlighted that the temple successfully marries sacred tradition with modern infrastructure, creating a unique global spiritual confluence where traditional Bengali devotion meets international Vaishnava culture.

This phenomenal growth has catalyzed the "Digha Transformation," turning what was once a primarily seasonal seaside destination into a year-round economic powerhouse. The surge in pilgrim footfall has energized local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and lodges, providing a sustained boost to the regional economy.

Leadership and Vision Behind the Success

Radha Raman Das extended heartfelt gratitude to the state's leadership for their pivotal role in this success story. He specifically thanked Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Sushri Mamata Banerjee, for her far-sighted vision and support which were instrumental in making the grand temple a reality. The achievement of one crore visitors in under a year stands as a new benchmark, not just for West Bengal but for spiritual destinations across India, showcasing the powerful synergy of faith, culture, and development.
