Bithoor Mahotsava 2024: A Fusion of Defence, Technology, and Culture
The historic town of Bithoor in Kanpur is set to come alive with the vibrant Bithoor Mahotsava, scheduled from February 26 to 28, 2024. This three-day festival promises a unique blend of defence exhibitions, cutting-edge technology displays, and rich cultural performances, attracting visitors from across the region.
Key Attractions and Exhibitions
Among the main highlights are exhibitions by Gliders India and the Ordnance Equipment Factory, both under the Ministry of Defence, showcasing advancements in defence technology. Adding a technological edge, IIT Kanpur will present an AI and VR-based exhibition, offering immersive experiences. The festival also features a flower show by the Horticulture department and artworks from the Fine Arts Department of CSJM University, ensuring a diverse appeal.
Inauguration and Administrative Preparations
Minister-in-charge Yogendra Upadhyay will inaugurate the festival, setting the stage for the celebrations. In a review meeting, DM Jitendra Pratap Singh issued detailed instructions to concerned departments regarding security, traffic management, cleanliness, lighting, and stage program coordination. He emphasized that the event must be well-organized, safe, and driven by public participation, reflecting a commitment to smooth execution.
Cultural Programs and Daily Highlights
Day 1 (Feb 26): The inaugural day kicks off with a performance of the Bithoor theme song and Kathak dance by the Bhopal Kathak Committee. In the evening, a special attraction awaits with a performance by Dr Palash Sen and Euphoria Band, adding a musical flair.
Day 2 (Feb 27): Local talents take center stage through 'The Battle of the Bands' and 'Kanpur's Got Talent', showcasing the region's creative prowess.
Day 3 (Feb 28): The final day features cultural programs by students, classical dance-music performances, and a Charkula presentation based on Pai Danda, Punjabi Gatka, and Braj Holi by the North-Central Cultural Center of Prayagraj, offering a traditional touch.
Logistics and Public Appeal
To facilitate access, special roadways buses will operate from Kanpur Nagar to Bithoor from 10 am to 10 pm throughout the festival. DM Jitendra Pratap Singh has appealed to the general public to participate in large numbers and cooperate with the administration in maintaining peace, cleanliness, and an efficient traffic system, ensuring a memorable and hassle-free experience for all attendees.
