Ahmedabad's Cultural Weekend: French Comedy, Wellness, and Art Exhibitions

Ahmedabad is set to host a vibrant array of cultural events this weekend, offering residents and visitors a rich tapestry of entertainment, wellness, and artistic exploration. From a French comedy film screening to a holistic wellness programme and multiple art exhibitions, the city promises engaging experiences for all interests.

French Comedy Film Screening: La Petite Vadrouille

The French comedy La Petite Vadrouille will be screened at The French Gallery, Alliance Francaise Ahmedabad, located off Shyamal-Manekbaug Road. The film follows Justine and her husband, Albin, as they grapple with mounting financial troubles by devising an elaborate ruse. Enlisting the help of friends, they stage a fake romantic cruise to swindle a wealthy investor named Franck Pauilhac.

What begins as a carefully plotted canal getaway quickly spirals into comic chaos, filled with misunderstandings, reversals, and sharp, character-driven humour. Directed by Bruno Podalydes and featuring performances by Denis Podalydes, Sandrine Kiberlain, and Daniel Auteuil, the film skillfully blends farce with social observation in a light yet pointed narrative. The screening is open to all and will take place on February 21, starting at 6pm onwards.

Holistic Wellness Programme at Shivanand Ashram

Shivanand Ashram in Jodhpur Tekra, Satellite, will host a three-day wellness programme centred on Marma Chikitsa, alongside yoga and ayurvedic guidance. Led by Dr Sunil Kumar Joshi, who has over four decades of experience in marma therapy, the programme integrates traditional knowledge with contemporary health concerns through a structured series of sessions.

Each morning begins with yoga and practical guidance for physical wellbeing, followed by individual OPD consultations. Evening lectures focus on the principles and therapeutic applications of marma chikitsa. Designed for both health seekers and practitioners, this immersive programme offers an introduction to this non-pharmacological healing system rooted in classical ayurveda. The event runs from February 21 to 23, with sessions starting at 6am onwards and evening sessions from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, and is open to all.

Art Exhibitions: KCA Annual Exhibition and The Lost World

The KCA Annual Exhibition (ART26) at the Kanoria Centre for Arts in Navrangpura brings together 15 artists and 97 artworks across various media, including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, video art, installation, and performance. This annual showcase serves as a shared space for experimentation and dialogue, where diverse approaches to material and process reflect the breadth of contemporary practice.

Participating artists include Anil Majmudar, Jayesh Shrimali, Nidhi Sabhaya, Garvita Anchaliya, Hiral Desai, Neeta Khanuja, Neha Suthar, Riel Noir, Snehal Kashikar, Bethelian VK, Chanda Patel, Krishna Sheth, Manon Gangopadhyay, Nithin Kumar J, and Pulkit Prajapati. Their works navigate themes such as memory, materiality, urban change, ecology, abstraction, and lived experience, offering viewers a layered encounter with evolving artistic enquiry. The exhibition is open until February 22, from 12 noon to 8pm, at the Urmila Art Gallery.

Additionally, The Lost World, an exhibition of drawings, paintings, and collages by Suresh Sheth, is on display at The Gallery, Amdavad ni Gufa, also in Navrangpura. This body of work navigates memory, imagination, and shifting inner landscapes through expressive lines, layered colour, and intuitive composition. Sheth constructs a visual terrain where fragments of lived experience merge with dreamlike forms, moving between abstraction and suggestion to evoke a world that feels both distant and deeply familiar. The exhibition runs until February 22, from 4pm to 8pm, and is open to all.

These events highlight Ahmedabad's dynamic cultural scene, providing opportunities for entertainment, wellness, and artistic appreciation. For those interested in listing events, please contact toiwhatsupamdavad@gmail.com.
