The city of Ahmedabad is set to welcome the New Year with a vibrant celebration of flowers, art, and national heritage. The 14th International Flower Show, organized by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, will open its gates to the public on Thursday, January 1, 2026, and will continue its floral narrative until January 22, 2026.
A Grand Narrative Through Petals and Leaves
Curated under the overarching theme of 'Bharat Ek Gatha' (India: One Epic Saga), the event will be held at the Flower Garden and Event Centre in Paldi, located on the iconic Sabarmati Riverfront. The exhibition aims to artistically depict the nation's profound journey—from its ancient civilizational roots to its modern developmental milestones—by masterfully fusing horticulture with artistic expression.
Ahmedabad Mayor Pratibha Jain detailed the ambitious vision behind the show. The experience will be divided into multiple thematic zones, each designed to transport visitors through different epochs and aspects of Indian culture and achievement.
Zones of Mythology, Unity, and Celebration
One of the central attractions will be the 'Shashvat Bharat' zone, dedicated to India's rich mythological heritage. This spiritually immersive section will feature floral sculptures recreating timeless episodes like the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean), teachings from the Bhagavad Gita, Govardhan Leela, the descent of the river Ganga, and the Ram Setu.
In a powerful symbol of national integration, a special zone will showcase a grand 30-metre-diameter floral mandala alongside what is touted to be the world's largest floral portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The installation, honoring the Iron Man of India's monumental role in unifying the nation, has been prepared with the specific aim of securing a Guinness World Record.
The festival spirit of India will come alive in a zone dedicated to the country's diverse celebrations. The brilliance of Diwali, the exuberant colours of Holi, the traditional elegance of Onam, and the rhythmic fervour of Bihu will all be represented through intricate floral artistry. Adjacent to this, the grace of Indian classical and folk dances like Kuchipudi, Bhangra, Garba, and Kathakali will be displayed, with a representation of Lord Nataraja at its heart.
Modern India's Achievements in Bloom
The exhibition will also cast a spotlight on contemporary India's accomplishments. A dedicated 'Achievements of India' zone will use floral displays to narrate the country's strides in high-speed rail, renewable energy, sports, space technology, and the education sector. This section aims to present a balanced narrative between venerating heritage and celebrating future-oriented innovation.
At the entrance, visitors will be greeted by two massive floral lions, symbolizing the nation's courage and pride. The entryway will also feature floral lotus fountains to set a dignified ambience. Furthermore, a sculpture on the theme of 'Women Empowerment' will be unveiled during the event by the Honourable Chief Minister.
Visitor Information and Logistics
To ensure the lush display of seasonal plants throughout the 22-day event, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has implemented an advanced sprinkler irrigation network across 10,524 square metres of the event grounds, replacing traditional watering methods.
The entry fee for the flower show has been set at Rs 80 from Monday to Friday and Rs 100 on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. The civic body has also announced several concessions: free entry for persons with disabilities, soldiers, children below 12 years, and students of AMC-run schools on all days. Students from non-AMC schools can enter for Rs 10 on weekdays between 9 am and 1 pm. For those seeking an exclusive experience, a prime-time slot entry fee of Rs 500 will apply from 8 AM to 9 AM and 10 PM to 11 PM.
The Ahmedabad International Flower Show 2026 promises to be more than just a display of flowers; it is poised to be a captivating, multi-sensory journey through the epic story of India, told one blossom at a time.
