The historic grounds of the Calcutta Cricket & Football Club (CCFC) witnessed a remarkable transformation on December 28, 2025. The usual sounds of sport were replaced by the elegant hum of historic engines as the club hosted its first-ever CCFC-EIMG Vintage Car Display.
A Living Museum of Automotive History
This landmark event, the result of a new affiliation between the 1792-established CCFC and the Eastern India Motoring Group (EIMG), turned the club's rear parking arena into a living museum. A curated selection of 35 vintage and classic automobiles took center stage, drawing members and guests who typically visit for fitness and sports camaraderie.
The display was meticulously curated by Shrivardhan Kanoria, the Founder and President of EIMG. A globally recognized collector and restorer, Kanoria hand-picked each vehicle for its historical significance and automotive artistry, ensuring the collection represented the pinnacle of historic motoring.
Show-Stopping Classics and Key Participants
Among the 35 automotive jewels, several vehicles emerged as crowd-pullers. Notable entries highlighted from the Shrivardhan Kanoria collection included a magnificent Bentley and a Rolls-Royce. The display also featured other beauties such as a 1938 Rolls-Royce belonging to Avik Naha, a 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe from SK Lahiri, and a 1934 Rolls-Royce owned by Krish Ajmera.
The collaboration was initiated by Himanshu Ajmera, a member of both CCFC and EIMG, who acted as the bridge between the two institutions. He also participated in the show with his own 1949 MG TC, and his company, Accord Capital Markets Pvt Ltd, sponsored the event. From CCFC's side, Entertainment in-charge Vivek Bhasin and co-executive committee member Gagan Arora played crucial roles in organizing the successful display.
A New Annual Tradition for Kolkata
For EIMG, this event marked the fourth of eight planned motoring events for their current vintage season in Kolkata. For CCFC, it was a vibrant reminder of the club's broader role as a custodian of culture beyond the cricket pitch and football field.
The synergy between the historic club and the motoring group was palpable. Due to the event's resounding success, both CCFC and EIMG have expressed a strong desire to make the Vintage Car Display an annual fixture. The key stakeholders confirmed their intent to permanently add this celebration of mechanical heritage to the club's calendar.
As Shrivardhan Kanoria poignantly described, the day perfectly encapsulated a meeting of "timeless machines" on Kolkata's roads with the "timeless heritage" of its oldest sports club, creating a memorable chapter in the city's cultural tapestry.
