Mass Participation Marks 12th International Yoga Day Across the Region
The 12th edition of the International Day of Yoga on Sunday drew large crowds from all walks of life, who participated in yoga sessions organised at schools, colleges, parks, government institutions and public venues across the Chandigarh region. People gathered early in the morning to perform asanas and breathing exercises, highlighting the importance of physical fitness, mental well-being and holistic health.
Senior Officials and Dignitaries Lead by Example
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, along with senior officials, performed yoga at Tiranga Park in Chandigarh. Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court also joined the sessions, demonstrating the widespread appeal of the event. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini participated in a mass yoga session at the Parade Ground in Panchkula, emphasising the government's commitment to promoting wellness.
Yoga at Educational Institutions and Public Venues
BJP national president Nitin Nabin, along with Chancellor of Lovely Professional University and Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal, took part in an International Yoga Day session at the university campus. The event at LPU saw enthusiastic participation from students and faculty. Senior faculty, employees and patient attendants also performed yoga at the PGI sports ground in Chandigarh, showcasing the integration of yoga into healthcare settings.
