More than 1,000 participants, including Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, their families, students, local dignitaries, and residents of border villages, gathered at the Attari joint check post on Sunday to celebrate the 12th International Yoga Day 2026. The event, organized by the BSF Punjab Frontier, embraced the global theme 'Yoga for Healthy Ageing' and was part of the force's Diamond Jubilee year celebrations.
Yoga Sessions Across Border Outposts
Similar large-scale yoga programmes were conducted at the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor in Gurdaspur, Joint Check Post Hussainiwala in Ferozepur, and Joint Check Post Sadqi on the Fazilka border, according to BSF officials. The events aimed to promote health and wellness among border communities.
IG Dr Atul Fulzele Encourages Daily Practice
Addressing the gathering at Attari, BSF Punjab Inspector General Dr Atul Fulzele encouraged participants to incorporate yoga into their daily routines. He stated that regular yoga practice helps keep the mind and body agile, resilient, and healthy throughout life. Dr Fulzele emphasized that BSF Punjab's participation in International Yoga Day reaffirms the force's commitment not only to safeguarding the nation's borders but also to promoting health, wellness, and community engagement in border areas.
Common Yoga Protocol Followed
Yoga instructors conducted sessions in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol, guiding participants through various asanas, pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation. Special emphasis was placed on breathing techniques, posture alignment, flexibility, joint mobility, and stress management, reflecting the spirit of healthy ageing.
Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
The events were organized as part of the BSF's Diamond Jubilee year celebrations, marking 60 years of service. The force's wholehearted participation in International Yoga Day underscores its dedication to community welfare and holistic well-being.
