Bengaluru man dies after falling from 16th-floor apartment

A 26-year-old man tragically died on Wednesday morning after falling from the 16th floor of an apartment building in Bengaluru's Bagalagunte area. The police are investigating whether the incident was a suicide or an accidental fall.

Victim Identified as Nikshep K Bangera

The deceased has been identified as Nikshep K Bangera. He resided with his parents and sister at the Princeton apartment complex in Yeshwanthpur. According to police statements, Nikshep had returned to Bengaluru approximately six years ago after completing his studies in Europe.

His family reported observing significant behavioural changes in him after his return. The police noted that he had begun showing aggressive tendencies and was later diagnosed with psychological issues. He was under professional treatment and had been advised to take medication regularly.

Sequence of Events on Wednesday Morning

On the morning of January 7, 2026, Nikshep reportedly informed his mother that he was going to visit the Sri Ranganatha Gowda Math in Hesaraghatta. However, around 8:30 am, the situation took a grim turn.

The president of the Princeton Apartment Association, a man named Ravi, contacted Nikshep's family and asked them to come down to the ground floor of the building. There, the family discovered Nikshep lying dead. The building's security staff immediately alerted the police by calling the emergency number 112.

Police Investigation and Family Statement

Personnel from the Bagalagunte police station rushed to the spot and initiated preliminary inquiries. Nikshep's father later approached the police and filed a formal complaint. In his statement, he confirmed that his son had been suffering from mental illness for several years and expressed no suspicion of foul play in the death.

The police have registered a case of unnatural death. The body has been sent for a postmortem examination to determine the precise cause of death. Further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall is currently underway.
