Vadodara Revives Online Disease Reporting System for Hospitals

The Vadodara Municipal Corporation has issued a fresh directive to all hospitals in the city. They must now regularly submit patient data for waterborne and vector-borne diseases through the Health Management Information System portal. This move aims to strengthen disease monitoring across Vadodara.

Real-Time Tracking for Better Preparedness

Hospitals can enter details of affected patients directly online. This ensures real-time monitoring and maintains accurate health records. VMC officials emphasize that current disease numbers are not alarming. They show no rising trend in the city.

The revival of the HMIS portal comes as a proactive measure. Officials want to maintain vigilance and preparedness even without any major outbreak. Earlier, hospitals received individual login IDs for the portal. However, the system saw little use during periods with no significant disease outbreaks requiring close watch.

Addressing Water Contamination Concerns

The civic body also tackled recent water contamination worries. Last week, tests revealed traces of contamination in the north zone, especially around Navayard and nearby areas. This week's test reports bring good news. They show no contamination present now.

The engineering wing of the VMC has already repaired the pipeline leaks in Navayard. This swift action helps ensure safe water supply for residents. The combination of online disease reporting and infrastructure repairs demonstrates a dual approach to public health management in Vadodara.

Regular data submission through HMIS will allow health authorities to spot patterns quickly. It enables a faster response if cases begin to rise. The system's revival marks a shift towards more systematic and digital health surveillance in the city.
