TVK MLAs Inspect Trichy Hospitals, Raise Infrastructure Issues

Trichy: TVK MLAs from Srirangam and Musiri constituencies conducted surprise inspections at government hospitals on Friday, marking their first field visits after taking oath in the Assembly. The inspections aimed to assess infrastructure and healthcare service gaps.

Srirangam Government Hospital Inspection

During the inspection at Srirangam Government Hospital, authorities requested MLA S Ramesh to identify a suitable site for expanding the facility. Hospital officials stated that at least four acres of land would be required for expansion, with the only available plot located in Somarasampettai, approximately 10 km from Srirangam. Ramesh assured that the matter would be studied and necessary steps taken. Patients also complained that some staff demanded money for wheelchair services. The MLA confirmed that the issue has been brought to the attention of doctors for appropriate action.

Musiri Government Hospital Inspection

At Musiri Government Hospital, staff urged MLA M Vignesh to arrange night-time police security at the premises. Vignesh noted that the inspection was conducted without prior intimation. Hospital staff requested a laundry facility to wash bedsheets, while ambulance drivers sought a resting space. The MLA assured that these demands would be taken up with the state government. Vignesh also highlighted a shortage of doctors and beds at the hospital, adding that many patients are being referred to government medical college hospitals in Trichy, Karur, and Namakkal.
