Dr. Sivaranjani Santosh spoke at the GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR) Hospital in Visakhapatnam, inspiring young medical professionals with her journey. She revealed her sustained campaign against numerous products in the market that were misleadingly sold as Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) but were, in fact, packed with excessive sugar.
She explained the grave danger these products posed. Genuine ORS is a life-saving solution for dehydration, especially in children suffering from diarrhea. However, the high sugar content in these fake versions can actually worsen dehydration by drawing more water into the gut, creating a serious health risk.
