Delhi Takes Major Step Toward Becoming Medical Hub
In a significant move to strengthen Delhi's healthcare infrastructure, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated 70 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs on Tuesday, November 26, 2025. The event marks a crucial phase in the government's ambitious plan to establish the national capital as a premier medical destination.
Expanding Healthcare Access Across Delhi
During the inauguration ceremony, CM Gupta emphasized that every family in Delhi would now have access to reliable healthcare services through these neighborhood-level facilities. "Every family will now have the assurance of accessible healthcare; Arogya Mandirs will offer enhanced medical service", she stated confidently.
The Chief Minister revealed that the BJP government has already established 250 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the city, with an ambitious target of setting up more than 1,000 such centers in the coming period. This massive expansion aims to address the growing patient burden on larger hospitals while bringing quality medical care closer to residents' doorsteps.
Strategic Distribution and Political Context
The government's comprehensive plan involves establishing 15 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in each assembly constituency, ensuring equitable distribution of healthcare resources throughout Delhi. CM Gupta highlighted the strategic importance of these centers, noting they have become essential given the increasing patient load on major hospitals.
In her address, the Chief Minister didn't shy away from political commentary, directly criticizing the previous AAP administration. She alleged that despite being in power for ten years, the previous government failed to provide basic amenities including water supply, sewer systems, and essential civic infrastructure to Delhi's residents.
The inauguration of these 70 healthcare centers represents a concrete step toward the government's vision of transforming Delhi into a medical hub, potentially reducing the need for residents to travel outside the city for specialized treatment while improving overall healthcare accessibility for all socioeconomic groups.
