Bihar has secured the top position on the Government of India's Drugs and Vaccine Distribution Management System (DVDMS) portal for an impressive 16 consecutive months, State Health Minister Mangal Pandey announced on Saturday.
Digital System Ensures Medicine Availability
Minister Pandey stated that drug shortages in hospitals are now a thing of the past, thanks to 180 medicine delivery vehicles operated by the State Health Society, Bihar. He emphasized that the NDA government in the state is rapidly fulfilling its promise of providing free and accessible medicines for the health and welfare of the underprivileged.
The health department has successfully integrated 14,337 health institutions across Bihar into the DVDMS. This digital integration has made the drug supply system transparent, effective, and accountable. The primary goal is to ensure that no patient is denied treatment due to a lack of medicine.
Real-Time Monitoring and Benefits for Patients
The drug supply chain is now monitored online in real-time. This allows for live assessment of drug availability, consumption, and demand across all healthcare tiers—from additional primary health centres and PHCs to community health centres, sub-divisional hospitals, and district hospitals.
"The possibilities of irregularities in drug management have now been almost eliminated," Pandey said. As part of this patient-centric approach, individuals with non-communicable diseases like blood pressure and diabetes are receiving a 30-day supply of medicine at once.
New QR Code Initiative for Citizen Feedback
In a parallel development on Saturday, the state government launched a new QR code-based, citizen-centric initiative. This falls under the Saat Nischay-III programme and aims to encourage residents to submit suggestions for improving government services.
The initiative seeks to make life easier for the general public, with a special focus on senior citizens. Proposed benefits include providing medical assistance at home, among other services. This move is designed to make governance more responsive and tailored to public needs.
Minister Pandey concluded that the DVDMS system marks a significant stride towards making health services in Bihar both reliable and centered around the people's needs.
