The state-level distribution program will be formally inaugurated on February 3 in Tenali, with Health Minister Y Staya Kumar Yadav and Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar presiding over the ceremony. According to government officials, the free spectacles will be distributed across all Assembly constituencies through the coordinated efforts of respective legislators and public representatives. The foundation for this initiative was laid through an extensive screening campaign conducted between July and November of last year. Paramedical ophthalmic assistants carried out thorough eye examinations for students aged 6 to 18 years studying in selected government schools across the state.
The screening process revealed that among the examined students, 94,689 children were diagnosed with vision problems requiring corrective spectacles. Based on the precise prescriptions generated during these examinations, spectacles have already been manufactured and are prepared for immediate distribution.
