TV Actress Nandini MC Dies by Suicide in Bengaluru

A young television actress from Karnataka tragically ended her life at her paying guest accommodation in Bengaluru, sending shockwaves through the regional entertainment industry. The incident occurred late on Sunday night in the Kengeri area, located in the western part of the city.

A Dream Pursued, A Life Lost

The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Nandini MC, who originally hailed from Kotturu in Vijayanagar district. According to the police, she had been residing at the PG facility in Mylasandra for approximately two years. The grim discovery was made around midnight after a friend grew concerned.

Her friend, Puneet, raised an alarm with the PG manager after repeated calls to Nandini went unanswered. The manager, along with others, subsequently forced open the door to her room. They found the young actress hanging from the window railings.

The Heartbreaking Suicide Note and Career Struggles

Investigators recovered a death note written in Kannada, which revealed the emotional turmoil she was experiencing. In the note addressed to her mother, Nandini expressed deep distress over her life and her unfulfilled acting career. She wrote about her hopes for success in the industry and a feeling that no one was listening to her. The note also clearly stated her disinterest in a government job, a path that had been offered to her.

Her family confirmed that Nandini had acted in several Kannada and Tamil television serials. She moved to Bengaluru in 2018 after completing her II Pre-University course. Although she initially enrolled in an engineering program, she soon left it to fully chase her acting ambitions.

Rejecting a Secure Future for Art

Her mother, Basavarajeshwari, provided further heartbreaking context to the police. She explained that Nandini's father, Mahabaleshwar, who was a government school teacher, passed away in 2021. Following his death, the government offered Nandini a job on compensatory grounds, a common practice in such cases.

However, Nandini firmly turned down the secure government position, reiterating her commitment to building a career in acting. The offer was made again on humanitarian grounds in 2023, but she remained steadfast in her refusal, choosing to continue her struggle in the competitive world of television.
