RSS Chief Highlights Mental Fragility Among Youth
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has expressed concern over the deteriorating mental health of children, attributing it to excessive screen exposure and a lack of family guidance. Speaking at an event, Bhagwat emphasized that the new generation requires meaningful conversation to combat loneliness and called on society to prioritize the mental well-being of the youth.
Root Causes: Screens and Loneliness
Bhagwat pointed out that modern lifestyles, dominated by digital devices, are isolating children from real-world interactions. He said, "The new generation needs conversation, and we must prevent the loneliness that sets in." According to him, the absence of parental guidance and family bonding is making children mentally fragile.
Call for Societal Action
The RSS chief urged families and communities to step up and create an environment where children feel connected. He stressed that society must collectively address this issue to ensure the mental resilience of future generations. Bhagwat’s remarks come amid growing global concerns over rising anxiety and depression among young people linked to technology overuse.
Impact of Screen Time on Youth
Studies have shown that excessive screen time can lead to sleep disturbances, reduced attention spans, and increased feelings of isolation. Bhagwat’s statement aligns with these findings, reinforcing the need for balanced digital habits and stronger family support systems.
