RMLIMS Achieves Milestone with Over 300 Robotic Surgeries in 11 Months
In a significant advancement for surgical care, the Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) in Lucknow has successfully completed more than 300 robotic surgeries within just 11 months. This achievement underscores the institute's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve patient outcomes and safety.
Breakdown of Surgical Procedures
A total of 305 robotic procedures were carried out during this period, with the department of urology and renal transplant leading the way by contributing 253 cases. Other specialties also made notable contributions:
- Gastro surgery: 28 cases
- Onco surgery: 24 cases
This distribution highlights the diverse applications of robotic technology in complex medical fields, particularly in urological and transplant surgeries where precision is paramount.

Director Prof C M Singh emphasized that this milestone reflects the institute's focused efforts on innovation, patient safety, and the adoption of modern technology. He stated that such advancements are crucial for enhancing the quality of healthcare services offered at RMLIMS.
Head of urology, Prof Ishwar Ram Dhayal, elaborated on the benefits of robotic surgery, noting that it significantly improves precision and outcomes, especially in intricate urological and renal transplant cases. He also announced plans to expand the robotic surgery program to more specialties, aiming to broaden its impact and accessibility for patients.
