According to senior Inspector Vishvajeet Kaingade of the Warje police, the mother was in a state of deep distress over her daughter's deteriorating condition. The child had been battling severe health problems since birth, including fragile bones that led to frequent fractures from even minor falls. Her weak state necessitated daily medical check-ups, casting a shadow of uncertainty over her future.
"The mother was deeply worried about her daughter's deteriorating health and uncertain future. She feared what would happen to the child if she was no longer around," Inspector Kaingade told the media, explaining the possible motive behind the extreme step.

Police details paint a grim picture of the mother's final actions. It is alleged that she first tied the little girl's hands with adhesive tape. She then strangled the child with a rope near her cradle. Subsequently, the woman used a saree to hang herself from the ceiling of their house.
The horrifying scene was discovered by her husband, a 30-year-old electrician, when he returned home in the evening. He found his wife hanging and his daughter dead with the rope still around her neck. Overwhelmed by grief, he approached the Warje police station later that night and filed a formal complaint.
