The Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), Odisha, has officially released a revised timetable for the crucial second round of NEET PG 2025 state quota counselling. This round is vital for thousands of aspirants seeking admission to MD, MS, and DNB courses across medical colleges in the state.
Revised Schedule for Choice Filling and Locking
In a move to provide candidates with more preparation time, the DMET has shifted the choice filling and locking window. The process will now be active from December 18 to December 20, 2025. All eligible candidates must log into the official counselling portal within this period to select and lock their preferences for colleges and courses.
It is mandatory to submit fresh choices for Round 2. Preferences submitted during the first round of counselling will not be carried forward. Authorities have emphasized that timely locking of choices is critical; failure to do so will result in the candidate's application being considered ineligible for the seat allotment process.
Eligibility Criteria and Key Procedures
Participation in Round 2 is open to all candidates whose names feature on the Odisha state merit list for NEET PG 2025. This broadly includes three groups:
- Candidates who secured a seat in Round 1 but wish to try for a different seat.
- Those who formally resigned from their Round 1 allotment on December 16 or 17, 2025.
- Aspirants who did not receive any seat allotment in the first round.
The seat allotment will strictly follow the order of merit. Candidates with a higher rank will receive priority for the available seats. The resignation process for Round 1 required in-person submission of documents, including the NEET PG admit card, rank card, and provisional admission letter. A list of resigned candidates has been published to reflect the updated pool of vacant seats for Round 2.
Seat Allotment Results and Reporting Schedule
The results for the second round of seat allotment will be declared on December 22, 2025. Successful candidates can download their provisional allotment letters from the portal starting the next day, December 23.
The physical reporting for admission, document verification, and completion of formalities is scheduled from December 23 to December 25, 2025. Candidates must report at the old auditorium on the ground floor of the Office of the Dean and Principal at SCB Medical College in Cuttack. Reporting hours are between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM on all three days.
It is important to note that the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling for NEET PG 2025 is conducted separately. While its choice-filling deadlines have also been extended, it operates independently of the Odisha state quota process. Candidates must participate in both streams separately if they wish to be considered for each.
