The incident took place on December 20, when a pregnant woman travelling on the Shalimar Express (Train 18029) went into sudden labour as the train approached Nagpur. Alert railway staff were immediately notified, triggering a pre-planned emergency protocol to arrange for urgent medical assistance upon arrival at the station.
Coordinated Rescue at Nagpur Station
As the train pulled in, a team was ready and waiting. Woman personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) were the first to reach the expectant mother at Platform No. 3, providing initial care and comfort. Railway medical teams swiftly conducted an examination and, prioritizing the health of both mother and child, recommended immediate hospitalization for further medical attention.
The response was seamless. The passenger was carefully disembarked and transferred without delay to a nearby government hospital.
