Mumbai cop saves motorist's life with CPR at Wadala junction

In a remarkable display of presence of mind and courage, a Mumbai traffic policewoman became a real-life hero on Monday, saving the life of a motorist who suffered a sudden heart attack at a busy junction in Wadala.

Quick Thinking at Pooja Junction

The incident unfolded around 7 pm on Monday at Pooja Junction in Wadala, where Constable Dipali Mandale was managing traffic flow. Northward movement from Chembur towards Antop Hill had been halted. Mandale's sharp observation skills proved crucial when she noticed unusual movement inside a stationary car.

"I saw the passenger from the front seat suddenly rush towards the driver's side," recounted Mandale. "My initial thought was that they were simply swapping seats. But I quickly sensed that something was seriously wrong." Her instinct was correct. The driver was experiencing a severe heart attack and was incapacitated.

Life-Saving CPR Administered on the Street

Without a moment's hesitation, Constable Mandale rushed to the vehicle. She helped bring the ailing driver out of the car and laid him down on the street. Demonstrating exceptional composure, she immediately began administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Her trained actions in those critical minutes were vital in stabilizing the man's condition. After performing CPR, she directed the passenger to take the driver to the nearest hospital for urgent medical care. Authorities confirmed that the driver's life was saved due to her timely and courageous intervention.

Training and Public Acclaim

Constable Mandale highlighted that the Mumbai Traffic Police receive formal training in life-saving techniques. "We are given training on how to administer CPR at the traffic training school," she stated, underscoring the importance of such preparedness for frontline personnel.

News of her deed spread rapidly, with social media users showering praise on her act of kindness and bravery. Many hailed her as an inspiration and a testament to the dedication of police officers who go beyond their call of duty.

This incident serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of first-aid and CPR knowledge. A single individual's quick response and skill, honed by proper training, can make the difference between life and death on a bustling Mumbai street.
