Teenager Dies After Treatment by Retired Medical Dresser in Khargone District

A tragic incident unfolded in Khargone district on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the death of a 16-year-old girl from Bistan. The victim, identified as Ayushi, had been suffering from cold, cough, and mild fever for two to three days prior to the event.

Details of the Incident

According to Gulab Rawat, the in-charge of Bistan police station, Ayushi's father took her to a private clinic in Bistan for treatment. At the clinic, she was examined by Prakash Chandra Gupta, a retired medical dresser. The family alleges that Gupta administered saline and injected medication through a drip. Shortly after, Ayushi complained of restlessness and nausea.

The saline was reportedly removed, but her condition rapidly deteriorated. She lost consciousness outside the clinic, and the family claims another injection was given to her while she was unconscious. As her condition did not improve, Gupta transported Ayushi and her parents to a private hospital in Khargone, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Family's Allegations and Police Response

Family members have expressed shock and anger, questioning how a minor illness could lead to death. They have accused the practitioner of negligence in treatment. Following the incident, they created a disturbance and lodged a formal complaint with the police.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an inquiry. The body was sent for a postmortem examination at the district hospital to determine the exact cause of death.

Practitioner's Statement

In his defense, Gupta stated that the patient's condition suddenly deteriorated after being put on saline, prompting him to rush her to Khargone for advanced treatment. The investigation is ongoing to verify the claims from both sides.
