In a dramatic mid-air incident, former Karnataka legislator and medical practitioner Dr Anjali Nimbalkar saved the life of an American passenger by performing timely cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) aboard a Goa to New Delhi flight on Sunday.

Dr Anjali Nimbalkar, who currently serves as an All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary, was traveling to attend a political rally in the national capital when the emergency unfolded. The American woman on board began experiencing severe uneasiness and started shivering before eventually fainting. The situation turned critical when she lost her pulse, prompting immediate intervention.
Drawing on her medical expertise, Nimbalkar sprang into action without hesitation. She administered CPR to the unconscious passenger, a procedure crucial for restarting the heart and maintaining blood flow. Her efforts were successful, and she managed to revive the woman. Demonstrating remarkable dedication, the former Khanapur MLA then remained by the patient's side for the remainder of the journey, continuously monitoring her vital signs and offering comfort.

The act of bravery and professionalism did not go unnoticed. Fellow passengers and crew members expressed their deep appreciation for Nimbalkar's swift and decisive action. Upon the flight's arrival in Delhi, the revived American traveler was promptly transferred to a hospital via a waiting ambulance for further medical evaluation and care.
The incident garnered significant attention on social media, with Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah leading the accolades. On platform X (formerly Twitter), the CM expressed that he was "deeply moved and incredibly proud" of Nimbalkar's presence of mind and compassion.
"What makes this even more inspiring is that, despite having stepped away from her medical profession and being actively engaged in politics, the doctor within her responded without a second thought," Siddaramaiah wrote.
